Skyline 3rd and 4th Grades Learn about Money

The Skyline Summer School, grades 3-4, took some time June 17th to learn about the Missouri quarter. Bank of Urbana employees, Jacqulyn Pentridge, Randell Boggs, and Trisha Turner, reviewed facts and discussed the significance of the symbols on the quarter.
Each child received a Missouri State quarter and their own quarter design sheet to design their own quarters using symbols representing their community. All entries will be displayed at the bank and top winners will receive a prize.
Customer Solicitation
Be aware that there is in circulation a solicitation to you, our customers, regarding the purchase of death and disability insurance on your current loan with our bank. The Bank of Urbana has nothing to do with this solicitation or mailing. This company obtained information from public sources and uses our name in their mailing without our permission.
This mailing is from the Mortgage Protection Center in Burlington, North Carolina and they have apparently obtained information regarding your deed of trust which details your name, amount of loan, and whom you have the loan which if filed in your county's recorder's office.
Please treat this solicitation with great caution as you would any other mailings you normally receive.
Don't be a Victim
Please don't be a victim of phone, email, or text solicitations. In this area we often hear of customers receiving phone calls from persons requesting verification of their account numbers and other personal information. The caller will say they are a government agency, lottery personnel, or any other group to give the bank customer confidence in them.
Please do not be taken in by these scam artists. Customers often realize as soon as they hang up that they should not have given out the information. Then the customer has to close their account and open a new one, often times there is a lot of notification involved for the customer if they have any electronic deposits or withdrawals to get their finances squared back away to where they were before the "phone call."
Now we are seeing surrounding bank customers be victim of email and text messaging that requests verification information about their banking relationships. We at the Bank of Urbana will never solicit personal information from you through text messages or emails.
If you ever are in question, get the caller's name and number and then call us to see if we are aware of any scam related to the caller's request.
Fake Checks
Fake checks are a common problem across the country and right here in Dallas, Hickory, and Camden counties. The increase in the number of scams has even seasoned professionals scrambling to keep up with the latest methods for criminals wishing to perpetrate a fraud on our customers.
The US Postal Service has set up a website educating consumers about some of the most common methods being used currently. Please visit this website and spread the word to your family and friends.
